Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football academic scholarship with community service. In the first place the Selmons were raised by Lucious Selmon and Jessie on their Eufala farm as the youngest of nine kids. On the football field, he competed with his three siblings for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. Oklahoma has won two National Championships throughout his three-year tenure as the player of the team. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. When he was in the year 1988, he was working as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's the top 10 most promising young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy was appointed an associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
